We were learning about California in my 8th grade class and I asked if anyone knew the capital of California. Many students thought they knew. I heard Los Angeles, San Francisco, and even Las Vegas, but they had never heard of Sacramento.
Not unreasonably, they thought the governor was still Arnold Schwarzenegger and had never heard of Jerry Brown.
I laughed when I read this-you'd fool many American students and adults with the same questions. Conversely, do you know the German provinces and their "governors"? Are they even called provinces? I may have that wrong. PErhaps you can challenge the students to learn the US states and capitals if you learn Europe or at least Germany? When is Schule out for you? Eastview's graduation was last night and the rest of them have 4, count em, 4 more days. But your brother already probably let you know that.

I don't think I'd get all of the German state capitals, no. I certainly don't know the Minister-Presidents of the states (maybe one or two near where I live).
